My Story

Well this is My Story.

Hi and Welcome to my site, my name is Stephen Farr, I am a father of four great kids.

For the last 6 years I have been selling cars for a few local companies. Working 56 hours a week 5 days one week and 6 days the next, while raising a young family was taking it's toll.

I have always dabbled online with trying to make money from the Internet since 2006 when I first got online. In May 2012 I got offered a job working for a company selling social media services. The company had developed a Facebook application that as soon as I saw it I just knew I had to be involved. They also offered a range of social media marketing services. I had spent the last 2 years in my previous role selling cars working on their Social media and increasing the companies online visibility

On my first day in the new job I was put on a training course with a group of clients, this was an all day 8 hour course and during the entire day their was only 3 things all day that I didn't already know and that really impressed me. As I have picked all this information up in the last few years while working for somebody else.

After only a month of being with the company they downsized considerably and told me that if I wanted to keep my job that I had to work 6 days a week instead of 5 and give up my salary and work on commission only. With having a house, a family and all the trimmings to look after I told the company that I couldn't work on those terms and they then let me go.

        7th June 2012
Today I signed on with the Jobcentre. I started looking for a new Job working in social media but with only a months on the job experience that I could really claim. Most companies want somebody with a degree in marketing as well. Going from £25-£30k a year to £71per week is awful.
After searching online for Jobs that I wanted to do It dawned on me that if I already know about Social Media and how it can help businesses, Why don't I set up my own company helping businesses with their Social Media. I spoke to the jobcentre about this and on the 1st of July I was sent on a free course with Maybe Magazine on how to start your own business an accredited course with city and guilds.

The course was brilliant and on August 1st 2012 I started Go Farr Media.
